Guess what? We have a new album coming. We recorded it in a practice studio with the incredible engineer Dave Way. Dave is amazing . . . the 8th member of the band. The songs feature Moonalice 7, with Jack on bass for many songs. Here's the deal:

We aren't going to make any CDs, at least not for now. No point in spending money.

We're only going to distribute the songs on the web, via this site, Facebook and Twitter. They're all going to be FREE.

All we ask is that you help us spread the music. The people who do the best job of sharing the songs will get a Gold Laminate from us, good for a year of Moonalice shows (not including festivals). There's no set number of Gold Laminates. We'll give them to all the people who shoot the lights out. More on this soon . . .

The album is coming shortly . . .

Chubby - I take it you would not be opposed to some airplay of these songs? I can probably get them played on the Beaker Street show on an FM station here in Arkansas.

    Chubby, and everybody else,
Once again I am glad to hear about the alternative methods and goals associated with Moonalice. The sense of community and the spreading of good music is enhanced by the lack of pressure to make a profit. I think it's great; keep up the good work! As usual, I will help spread the word.
    Cool!

Oh, Great Legend Teller ... just tell me now if I'm prohibited from spreading the music via 8-track boombox .. (at times i'll just leave cassettes of various recordings playing in el-cheapo, old school portable tape units. Great fun to watch the passersby pick-up, listen, and at times walk off with the whole package. Maybe I'll switch the programming to all Moonalice all the time).

    Chubby,

Are you planning to release any additional studio recordings from the "Free" album in the near future? I have heard on several of the recent live recordings and on the Facebook site that "It's 4:20 Somewhere" has been downloaded over 30,000 times. Quite an accomplishment considering it is word of mouth for the most part.

I should add that I have really been enjoying all the recent live recordings you have posted. They sure made the drive to the relatives over Christmas more enjoyable.
