That's not how I feel about the New Year's Eve show in Point Arena, it was their encore song.
With apologies to Mendo Mama and the other locals, Point Arena is really out there. Chubby told me that they can't bring the tour bus there. The last time we went up Hwy 1 and promised ourselves that, even though it was longer, next time we'd go the other way, avoid Hwy 1.
The other way was worse. Twice Les asked me if I'd missed a turn and was on someone's driveway. We took Hwy 1 home.
The band was great, the crowd was friendly and appreciative. I spent some time with Leo, Theater Security, who had been walking around performing quality control. He judged mine acceptable.
Chubby had told me at the beginning of the show not to look at the setlist, so I was totally surprised when they closed the show with I Ain't Ever Satisfied, a song I like but associated with GE and didn't expect to hear again. I just checked my iTunes library, I have 22 versions of that song but New Years Eve is the best version yet. They rocked that song.
During the show Chubby referenced a poster about Big Steve, and we just found twitpicks of the crew posters on the band's twitter site. Are those one of a kind posters, are is there a chance a crew-set of posters might make it into the on-line store? I personally would really like an Earl and a Chuck, those two guys have been really great to all the fans.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this such a bearable year and good luck to all in the coming year.
